In its early days, IMSTec, in close, strategic partnership with IBM, took up the development of automated, controlled, validated process lines for medical technology, microsystems technology and the pharmaceutical industry. Our high level of high-tech development expertise and the integration into networks of excellence enable us to find high-tech solutions.

Barely two years after its founding, IMSTec already received the "Innovation Award of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate" for a stent inspection system.

In 2008, IMSTec made another innovative break-through for process automation with a high-speed inspection system for power electronics base plates and a round blank inspection system.

The innovative strength of the customized machine builder based in Klein-Winternheim continues to gain momentum. With the innovation of a balloon measurement system, IMSTec solves the automatic quality control for balloon catheters.

IMSTec continues to attract attention and wins the "Hidden Champions in Mainz" for unique solutions in the fields of medical coatings, single part traceability and quality assurance, which gives us a unique position in the market.

IMSTec has learned a lot from the requirements customers have made in the first few years since the company was founded and has continued to evolve. The solutions are developed together with the customers and this approach pays off: In 2012, IMSTec is awarded the technology premium of the Ministry of Economics of Rhineland-Palatinate and the ISB - for the development of an intelligent inline process control during production.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, IMSTec responded to the call from the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) to ensure the supply of FFP2 masks and developed FFP2 respirator systems within a short space of time. The manufacturer of customized machines put these into operation and started producing FFP2 masks under the brand name BlueBec. Around 20 systems produced around 5 million respirators per week during peak periods. This enabled IMSTec to make a significant contribution to the supply of personal protective equipment during the pandemic.

To this day, BlueBec masks stand for quality “made in Germany”. 

With the growing business areas, the management of the family-owned company expands by one member. Pierre Mähringer-Kunz takes over leading tasks alongside IMSTec founder Edgar Mähringer-Kunz and significantly develops the special machine builder. The focus on medical and pharmaceutical topics is built up.

The new development of further business areas is now also becoming structurally apparent in IMSTec. With the founding of MicuraPharm and IMSTecMedical, the manufacturer of customized machinery is intensifying its focus on the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. At the same time, the range of products and services for customers is being further expanded with the entry into OEM production.

The signs continue to point to growth. The future OEM production will be based in Plant II. Together with a state-of-the-art production area, office space has been created on around 3,500 square meters. The new building will be the second plant of the future and the location for our innovation center including demo center for the D³ system by KNAPP.

As part of this project, EU funding is being used to advance the development of process technologies and consumables for the production of 7x5 cup blisters and original blister carriers.
